On our way ...

A very gooood morning to you for the last time here in Dodoma! We're on the move north to Arusha, via Dar es Salaam on the coast where we plan to take a couple of days break that we didn't manage to take over the bank holidays ..

Perhaps you can tell that both electricity and internet have proved intermittent and troublesome in writing any mail/blogs this past week - hopefully we'll see you in February, on 4G!

Oh, your blog wakens mixed feelings for us: Goodbye Dodoma, our home of 4+ years! Dodoma just won't be the same without the MAF community, it looks so empty now and tugs at the heartstings... BUT it is good to see the new CAS team up and running, with some familiar faces among their staff! All the best with the new season in Arusha- happy new home! with love from Liz :-)

2014 was our silver wedding anniversary and a year of jubilee: it was a great time to have embarked on a journey with MAF. Having first heard about the aviation charity as a young child when MAF’s ‘flying missionary doctor’ came to visit Carina’s family home, planting seeds of hope, then marrying Jez, an aircraft maintenance engineer who met with Jesus while serving in the RAF and supporting MAF’s work.

We have Africa on our hearts, having served with MAF overseas recently in Tanzania and now Angola. Prior to this we were in the M.East, in Scotland with outreaches into Portugal and a couple of years in Sweden where half the family live, serving with Youth With A Mission.

Jez’s folk are from Shropshire, although we met, married and lived in Leeds before moving to bonnie Scotland for ten years where our two terrific sons were born.

We made our home in Devon where Jez’s career path led him to work as Finance Director at Hospiscare, Exeter, whilst Carina worked at the hospital as a physiotherapy technician. Oliver (now 25) is himself serving with the RAF and Asher (22, married to Louise, daddy to Lucas and Lily) is teacher training.

An important Bible verse to us is from Micah 6:8: ‘He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?’
